Winter Weather

We are so grateful for your willingness to participate in the 2018 Rutland Meals Challenge. We have been carefully monitoring the news of the incoming Winter weather for this weekend and we wanted to give you a clear sense of our plan.
First and foremost, we want you to be safe. We absolutely understand that there will be volunteers and perhaps even whole teams that can’t make it to our event. Please don’t take unnecessary risks this weekend.
Secondly, we have four thousand pounds of food and supplies in our fellowship hall right now, we really want to turn them into meal kits for our neighbors, so we will be hosting each of the listed shifts. Volunteers who can easily make it to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will be invited to stay and work if subsequent shifts don’t have enough hands.
Given that our volunteer pool might be well below the registered group size, we are prepared to end our work day on Saturday without all of our meals assembled. We will be hosting packaging shifts on Sunday beginning at 11AM. An email with a registration link will be sent out and the link will be posted on the Meals Challenge Facebook and Webpage.
If you are a team leader, please be sure to share this announcement with your whole group.
We remain very excited about the generosity of the greater Rutland community that will help us bring our 6 year total over 200,000 meals with your donations and your volunteer time. Thank you!

So Now What?

You Just Helped provide 40,000 meals to your neighbors all over Rutland County. We couldn’t do this without amazing partners.

Fundraising Update

The Feeding our Neighbors Team met this evening and we have four very important announcements to make about the 2017 Meals Challenge:

  • The October 2nd Raffle Dinner has been cancelled due to low ticket sales. If you have already purchased a ticket and would like a refund, please e-mail for instructions. If you would like your donation to go directly to purchasing food and supplies for the January packing event, we would be exceptionally grateful for your generosity.
  • As of tonight, we have funding for 20,000 meals, thank-you to everyone who has already supported our efforts this year!
  • An appeal letter was just sent to many area businesses and congregations. We hope that you will match your generous giving from last year, providing the resources for nearly 20,000 meals for our community.
  • We will be launching a sign-up page for the packing event soon, you can help make another record setting year by giving an individual gift and by registering as a volunteer for the event.

We are so grateful for all of the community members who make the Meals Challenge a success each year, and we look forward to seeing a great crowd on January, 14, 2017!
